E9 From Central to Lima: What It Really Looks Like to Follow God’s Call Overseas
Getting on a plane doesn't make you a missionary. Pastor Ethan sits down with Jared and Amy Mitcham, longtime members of Central and former staff, now serving with the International Mission Board in Lima, Peru. They're back in Central Florida for a short visit, and they share what the last few years have looked like: from a conversation that started when they were dating, to selling their home, packing 25 duffel bags, and learning Spanish in Mexico, to using websites, social media, and online ads to share the gospel across the Americas.
They talk about:
- How the IMB works with Southern Baptist churches, and why the church is the one sending missionaries
- What digital engagement is, and how God is using ads, websites, and even AI to connect people with the gospel
- Life in Lima: a desert city of 11 million where it almost never rains
- What church and hospitality look like in Peruvian culture - How to discern whether you're called to international missions
- What to do if you're not called to go overseas as a career: pray, give, and go to the people around you
